Kinja'd!!!

...when you're glad you have traction control.

First rain in a while in San Diego so the roads are extra oily. Turned left from a stop (not driving like an asshole) and got the rear end trying to step out. Caught me so off guard that I think I would have spun had the TC not intervened. Damn car has too much torque (said no one ever).

My general reaction upon seeing this light, "Damn you traction control! You always spoil my fun!"

Get a car with more horses and you'll understand.

I've never needed more horses to step out the rear end of a car I've owned. The rear won't step out unless you've got that skinny pedal down too far or you're steering too sharply.

The issue is not about being able to step out the rear. It is the rear stepping out when you're not expecting it. Have you daily driven a rear drive sports car in inclement weather? It will catch you out once in a while if you are a brisk driver.

So driving like an asshole. I mean it's cool, this is Oppo, we all like to drive fast, but let's call a spade a spade and be done with it.

Nope. You don't have to be driving like an idiot for this to happen. Occured to a old lady I worked with and she's no speed demon. That's why I said you haven't driven a powerful rear drive car in the right (wrong) conditions often enough otherwise you would understand this.

If you goose the throttle too much on a powerful RWD car.... sigh ....yes, okay, that's not driving like an idiot. But with more careful throttle application when you see that it's shit weather outside this is almost entirely avoidable.
